The word "negotiation" often conjures up images of power struggles, compromise and win/lose outcomes. But world-class negotiators focus instead on goals, relationships and emotional intelligence to turn negotiating into a valuable form of communication that increases their odds of getting what they really want. Drawing from 30 years of experience as an investment leader and consultant, Jamie Ziegler shares the five keys to successful conflict resolution and negotiation in this fast-paced session. Participants will learn the following fundamentals that support effective conflict resolution and negotiation:
- Why goal setting is paramount
- How to recognize and defuse defensiveness
- Why the art of great questions and active listening is a negotiator's most powerful tool
- How to use the AUM Negotiation Model to shift the conversation from unproductive debate to productive discussion and problem-solving
- How to prepare for your next negotiation
