Steve Romick, CFA - Co-Managing Partner, First Pacific Advisors
Steve Romick is Co-Managing partner of First Pacific Advisors, LLC, a Los Angeles-based investment manager with approximately $33 Billion under management in equity, fixed income, and alternative strategies. Romick is a value investor with a proven ability to build strategies with an absolute return focus that have generated superior risk-adjusted returns over full market cycles. As part of the Contrarian Value Strategy that he spearheads, Romick has managed the $19 billion FPA Crescent Fund since its 1993 inception. FPA Crescent has provided the best risk-adjusted returns of all domestic mutual funds (with assets over $1 billion) that invest in equities and have been managed by the same party since its inception according to Morningstar. As of Dec. 31, 2013, the FPA Crescent Fund carries a Morningstar 5-star rating. Romick was recently awarded Morningstar's U.S. Allocation Fund Manager of the Year (2013) and was a nominee for Morningstar's Domestic Manager of the Decade Award (2009). Romick also co-manages hedge funds in the Hawkeye and Multi-Advisor strategies. He began his investment career in 1985 with Kaplan, Nathan & Co as an analyst. He started his own firm, Crescent Management, in 1990 in order to focus on finding out-of-favor, low risk/high return investments in various parts of the capital markets. Romick serves as a member of Arden Group, Inc. Board of Directors and as its Audit Committee Chair. His philanthropic involvement includes serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Our House, and Phase One. Romick earned a BS in Education from Northwestern University and is a CFA Charter holder.
