Program Description:
In the February 12 State of the Union Address, President Barack Obama outlined the economic priorities for his second term and stated, "every day, we should ask ourselves three questions as a nation: How do we attract more jobs to our shores? How do we equip our people with the skills they need to get those jobs? And how do we make sure that hard work leads to a decent living?" On February 21, Acting Secretary of the Treasury Neal S. Wolin will address The Chicago Council on Global Affairs and the greater Chicago community to emphasize the president's economic priorities, including increased job creation, a thriving middle class, a balanced approach to deficit reduction, and tax reform.

Neal Wolin The Honorable Neal S. Wolin, Acting Secretary and Deputy Secretary, US Department of the Treasury
The Honorable Neal S. Wolin is the acting secretary and deputy secretary of the Department of the Treasury, the latter position for which he was confirmed by the Senate on May 18, 2009. Prior to his confirmation as deputy secretary, Wolin served in the Obama White House as deputy assistant to the president and deputy counsel to the president for economic policy. Before joining the Obama administration, Wolin was president and chief operating officer of the property & casualty insurance companies of The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. Wolin has also served as general counsel of the U.S. Department of the Treasury; deputy legal advisor to the National Security Council and executive assistant to the national security advisor in the Clinton administration; and special assistant to three directors of Central Intelligence. He received a BA from Yale College, an MS from the University of Oxford, and a JD from Yale Law School.
