From Western Europe to Wall Street, consumer and investor confidence has been shaken by debt crises and political brinksmanship. The European Union faces significant problems with sovereign debt and undercapitalized banks. The debt ceiling debate and the subsequent rating downgrade of U.S. Treasuries have threatened America's standing in global markets, and restoring fiscal sustainability without wrecking prospects for short-term growth remains a critical policy challenge. Are the United States and European Union on the verge of a double-dip recession? How will policymakers manage these challenges? What sectors have the greatest potential to drive growth, and what will it take to ignite job creation? Join us for a panel discussion on current developments in the U.S. and abroad and an assessment of whether the global economy is on the brink of recession.
