The Internal Revenue Service, the National Clandestine Service, and the U.S. Department of State are just a few of the agencies that are actively recruiting financial analysts. Come hear recruiters from various federal government agencies, which regulate or analyze financial activities or investigate financial crimes, describe their staffing needs and the particular skill sets they seek.

PARTICIPATING GOVERNMENT AGENCIES

Internal Revenue Service (IRS):

The Internal Revenue Service is the largest bureau within the Department of the Treasury. The mission of the IRS is to provide America's taxpayers top quality service by helping them understand and meet their tax responsibilities and by applying the tax law with integrity and fairness to all. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.

IRS Operating Divisions: SBSE - Small Business Self-Employed; TEGE - Tax Exempt Government Entities; LMSB - Large and Mid-Size Business; W&I - Wage and Investment.

Representatives from both the Civil and Criminal Divisions will be present.

Recruiting for approximately 20 IRS positions, which primarily include "Mission Critical Jobs."

National Clandestine Service (NCS):

The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is an independent US Government agency responsible for providing national security intelligence to senior US policymakers. The CIA is the premier agency responsible for providing global intelligence on the ever-changing political, social, economic, technological and military environment.

The CIA is separated into four basic components: the National Clandestine Service, the Directorate of Intelligence, the Directorate of Science & Technology, and the Directorate of Support. They carry out "the intelligence cycle," the process of collecting, analyzing, and disseminating intelligence information to top US government officials.

The National Clandestine Service (NCS) has responsibility for the clandestine collection of foreign intelligence, primarily human source intelligence (HUMINT). The NCS serves as the national authority for coordination, de-confliction, and evaluation of clandestine HUMINT operations across the Intelligence Community, consistent with existing laws, executive orders, and interagency agreements. The NCS is the front-line source of clandestine intelligence on critical international developments ranging from terrorism and weapons proliferation to military and political issues. To gather this important intelligence, CIA operations officers live and work overseas to establish and maintain networks and personal relationships with foreign "assets" in the field.

Make a world of difference.

The CIA's Clandestine Service is the cutting-edge of American Intelligence. It is an elite corps, providing vital information needed by US policymakers, the military and law enforcement services to protect the national security interests of the American people. For the extraordinary person who wants more than just a job, the Clandestine Service offers a unique career - a way of life that challenges the deepest resources of an individual's intelligence, self reliance and responsibility.

Recruiting primarily for full-time overseas field positions in the National Clandestine Service. CFA Society members with prior business experience, foreign language skills, and/or past overseas experience are likely to be the most competitive. No preference as to industry sector.

U.S. Department of State:

The Department of State is the Federal agency responsible for the formulation and implementation of U.S. foreign policy. The Department's personnel represent the U.S. and protect its interests and citizens around the world. The State Department seeks high caliber employees with the skills and competencies needed to deal with the demands of the coming decades. It recruits a diverse group of individuals with knowledge not only in areas traditionally associated with diplomacy (such as history, political science, international relations, and economics), but also those with backgrounds in business, office management, public administration, natural sciences, communications, law, information management and security. Its 25,000 U.S. employees (Foreign Officers and Specialists and Civil Servants) serve domestically, primarily in Washington DC, and at 265 embassies and consulates in over 160 foreign countries.

International Career Opportunities: CFA members would be competitive for both Management and Economic Officer positions, and despite the ongoing economic downturn, the U.S. Department of State will hire approximately 100 officers in each category this year. Attendees should give the State Department www.careers.state.gov website a good look in preparation for the session.
