Laszlo Birinyi, Jr. is the President of Birinyi Associates, Inc., a stock market research and money management firm based in Westport, Connecticut.
Mr. Birinyi began his career on Wall Street as a trader, where he developed the first weekly trading calendar. His further efforts resulted in the premier book on stock market trading, The Equity Desk.
In July of 1976, Mr. Birinyi joined Salomon Brothers, where he led the firm's Equity Market Analysis group and developed their weekly commentary, Stock Week. He also developed a variety of studies on market topics including: volatility, flow of funds, market structure, and perhaps his best-known tool, Money Flows. In addition, he was an architect of the Salomon- Russell international index. Mr. Birinyi was named Vice President and then Director at Salomon Brothers, but then left in 1989 to form Birinyi Associates, Inc.
While Birinyi Associates remains the primary focal point of his professional activity, Mr. Birinyi is also a columnist for Forbes and has been a panelist on Louis Rukeyser's Wall Street for more than ten years. In eight of the last twelve years, he has been featured on either the show's mid-year or year-end review for his outstanding stock selections. In 1999, he was inducted into Louis Rukeyser's Wall Street Hall of Fame.
Mr. Birinyi was born in Hungary and raised in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and his MBA from New York University.
