Jim AllenIn the financial world, concern about executive compensation typically is limited to whether or not reward directly corresponds to results created by management's decisions or actions. Of equal importance, however, is whether the Board of Directors or Supervisory Board of a company has devised a remuneration plan that induces management to act in a manner that is consistent with the interests of shareowners. Although disclosures have improved in recent years, there is still very little guidance available to help investors understand how Boards develop and decide on compensation systems for the individuals hired to manage companies.

The Compensation of Senior Executives at Listed Companies: A Manual for Investors seeks to give investors the guidance they need to make determinations about executive compensation. Mr. Allen will discuss the purpose for the new Manual, the important governance aspects of executive compensation, the most common elements of executive's pay, and the issues professional investors should consider when reviewing a company's executive compensation strategies and performance.

Biography: Mr. Allen is director, capital markets policy group with the CFA Institute Centre for Financial Market Integrity where he manages the Capital Markets Policy Group, which develops and promotes the CFA Institute Centre's capital markets positions, policies, and standards. He also coordinates and supports related educational and public awareness activities.
