A Taxonomy on Hedge Funds
Date, Time, and Location:
Thursday, September 25, 2003 (add this event to your Outlook Calendar)
8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
We realize that there has been a myriad of Hedge Fund seminars offered by every trade group, university, and hedge funds themselves in the past year.
But hardly anyone is telling us what this investment product is all about in basic terms and where it fits in the portfolio management process (i.e. perhaps vested interests?)
To sort out the confusion, the Society and its Education Advisory Group designed this seminar to educate you on –
- The basic structure of hedge funds & key legal issues that must be in the agreement,
- The overall investment universe of hedge funds including benchmarks,
- The various hedge fund strategies and how to diversify “strategy,”
- How money managers currently use hedge funds in asset allocation in investment optimization, and
- Positioning fund of hedge funds with clients and registered fund of hedge funds - the practice management implications of this relatively new investment option.
For example, there are 5,000 hedge funds and 1,500 commodity fund advisors (CTAs), the vast majority of which have less than $25 million under management. According to industry data, nearly 60% of all hedge funds play in the space of “long short” strategies, which in nearly all cases have a “long bias!!”
This is just a sampling of the information you will be receiving at this seminar. It is well worth your time in career enhancements and improving the performance and risk management profiles of your client portfolios.
