Please join the CFA Society of Chicago's Career Management Advisory Group as it hosts a panel discussion, which will highlight emerging trends in institutional money management, high net worth/wealth management and alternative investments while discussing the professional career opportunities being created as a result of these trends.

Panelists:

Troy L. Barnett, CFA, Principal - Adams Street Partners, LLC (Chicago)

Mr. Barnett is responsible for the due diligence, valuation and execution of private equity secondary investments in both limited partnership and direct interests. Prior to joining Adams Street Partners, Mr. Barnett was a senior associate at NIMCO, a division of Northwestern Mutual Life, responsible for direct investments. He also worked as the relationship manager for several U.S. and European-focused private equity funds and has completed a range of private equity/mezzanine and privately structured debt transactions. Previously, Mr. Barnett worked with William Blair & Company, LLC as an equity research analyst. Mr. Barnett holds a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Kathleen Graham, Principal - HQ Search, Inc.

Kathy Graham is a Principal and Co-Founder of HQ Search, Inc., a retained executive search firm specializing solely in financial services positions globally, whose clients include asset/money management companies, domestic money centers, international and suburban banks, investment/merchant banks, consulting firms; corporations, credit rating services, pension funds, real estate developers, trading institutions/hedge funds, and private equity/venture capital firms. For the last 4 years Ms. Graham has issued an annual financial services job forecast, which to date has been 100% accurate. She has also started 3 new companies in 2006: HQ Seminars, Inc. (custom designed financial niche and in-house seminars); HQ Scripts, Inc. (editing and creation of financial articles, books and newsletters); and HQ Services (financial services compensation studies, brainstorming/focus groups). Ms. Graham holds an MBA in Finance, Analytic Finance, and Econometrics & Statistics from the University of Chicago and a BA in Business Administration and Marketing from North Central College.

Larry Jones, CFA, Executive Vice President and Practice Leader, Emerging/Minority Programs - Northern Trust

As the leader for Northern Trust's Emerging/Minority practice, Larry Jones leads the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of customized multiple manager investment programs utilizing emerging and/or minority investment management firms. Prior to joining Northern, Mr. Jones was Managing Director, Equity Securities for NCM Capital Management Group Inc. where he managed portfolios and helped to supervise $2.5 billion in assets across 6 equity products and 3 bond products. Prior to joining NCM, Mr. Jones was President, Market Strategist, and Director of Research for The Kenwood Group Inc. where his responsibilities included managing $420 million in assets for 22 accounts and a mutual fund as well as serving as a member of the Investment Policy Committee. Prior to Kenwood, he was Chief Investment Officer, Equities Management & Investment Research for W.R. Lazard & Company. Mr. Jones holds a B.S. and M.B.A. in Management from Southern Illinois University.

Laura M. Linger, Head of Client Development for Investment Counseling - William Blair & Company

Laura Linger joined William Blair & Company in 2004 as head of client development for investment counseling within Investment Management Services. Ms. Linger has spent her twenty-three year career in management and client-facing roles with high net-worth individuals and their families in coordinating their professional services in investments, lending, and financial planning. Prior to joining William Blair & Company, she was a Senior Vice President and Division Head in LaSalle's Wealth Management Group. Laura received her undergraduate degree in Business Economics from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and is a graduate of the University of Delaware's Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

Carla Norfleet Taylor, CFA, Director, Corporate Finance - Fitch Ratings

Carla Norfleet Taylor is a Director in the Corporate Finance group of Fitch Ratings. Ms. Taylor's responsibilities include the use of fundamental and credit analysis to assign credit ratings to and publish research on a portfolio of mid-sized to large food, beverage and restaurant companies. Ms. Taylor began her investment career at The Northern Trust as Product Manager for Enhanced Cash Investment Products and as an International Equity Research Analyst focusing on investment opportunities in Latin America. She attended The University of Chicago were she received a BA with an emphasis in Economics in 1992 and a MBA in Finance and Human Resource Management in 1993. Ms. Taylor earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2000.
