This event is the launch of our brand new series Taking it to the Next Level: Empowering Tools for Women in Finance. The series is designed to provide events that optimize career development and advancement for women in the financial services area. This first event in the series provides invaluable lessons on managing and shifting the course of your career.
- Key ideas will be shared to help you assess the current state of your career and your future career goals.
- Successful tips on how to get to the next level, take on more responsibility, get the recognition you deserve internally or when to know it’s time to shift course and/or see what you’re worth externally.
- Exploring and understanding the importance of learning how you got to where you are now and the successes and failures that got you here. Am I on the right trajectory? Is it time to make a change?

Gail Meneley is the co-founder of Shields Meneley Partners, a confidential advisory service to C-Suite executives and board of directors during times of organizational and professional crisis and transition.
Previously, she was one of eight founders of the Center for Executive Options and helped grow its Midwest executive coaching and transition practice into the global practice profit leader. In 2004, she and her partner, Hugh A. Shields, launched Shields Meneley Partners, and have now worked with more than 2,000 top executives and board members across the country for organizations including Abbott, Allstate, the American Red Cross, Anthem Health, Bank One, Bristol Meyers, BlueCross& BlueShield, Fort James, GE, Johnson & Johnson, Motorola, Quaker, PepsiCo, R.R. Donnelley, Sears and the YMCA.
Meneley has extensive business experience at top executive levels within the financial services and nonprofit sectors. She was president and chief executive officer of the Institute of Financial Education, a national financial services training organization headquartered in Chicago with 250 branches around the country. In successive leadership positions, Meneley spearheaded the spin-off of the Institute and successfully led its transition from a single-market to a full-service provider of financial training that cut across functional and regulatory lines.
She has been widely quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Chicago Tribune, and Crain’s, and has been the keynote speaker at national conferences and conventions, and has been published in Directors and Boards magazine, among others. Meneley holds a B.A. from Mundelein College of Loyola University and has participated in executive programs at the University of Texas, the University of Washington, and the University of Southern California. She is active in many civic, cultural and business organizations including the Economic Club of Chicago, The Chicago Network, the Chicago Finance Exchange, and the Lake Forest Caucus.
