Panelists' Bios (in order of appearance):
Anthony E. Wilkins, CFA: Entering the Investment Industry from an Unrelated Field
Tony Wilkins had no intention of pursuing any kind of additional education beyond an electrical engineering degree from Northwestern University. Unfortunately, curiosity got the best of him. Seven years into a successful engineering career, he heard about the T. Boone Pickens' greenmailing of Marathon Oil and was hooked. Though, at the time, he barely understood the difference between the Dow Jones and the S&P, he headed off to business school to learn more about the investment industry. Working full time while attending U of C's MBA program he decided on investment banking but wound up in asset management.
After spending 3 years as a portfolio manager, he found a home in institutional asset management sales. Today, Tony runs the North American consultant relations effort for Northern Trust Global Investments selling everything from cash management to private equity fund of funds. He has been married for 17 years and nine months, has three children, sits on four nonprofit boards and coaches his son's soccer team. Motto: Do the best you can with what you've got.
