Recent Trends in Private Equity:

Ellen Carnahan, Principal - William Blair and Company
Ellen Carnahan is a Managing Director with William Blair Capital Partners (WBCP) LLC. She joined William Blair in 1988 after ten years of management experience in the software and financial services industries. She was Vice President of Marketing & Planning at SPSS, a then $30-million applications software company, and Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis at Trailer Train Company, the largest operator of railroad flatcars. She has served on the Boards of over twenty companies and currently serves as a director of Pavilion Technologies, Vericept Corporation, and WPS Resources Corporation (NYSE: WPS). During her tenure at WBCP, she has led the technology investment team and is recognized as "one of the 100 most influential women in Chicago" by Crain's Chicago Business. She is the 2003 recipient of the Illinois Venture Capital Association's "Fellowship Award" and the Girl Scouts of Chicago "Luminary Award."
